The metro population is projected to surpass 310,000 in 2020.

Amarillo is the perfect place to live and get a big taste of Texas. The whole family will be in awe of the fantastic rock formations at  Palo Duro Canyon State Park and the famous old Cadillacs are right here in town. Another attraction in Amarillo are the gigantic 72 ounce steaks at The Big Texan. Amarillo is an Old West enthusiast's dream.

One of the country's best collections of Western art and artifacts can be found at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum. Mosey on over to the Amarillo Livestock Auction to mingle with real cowboys as they go about the business of buying and selling cattle. For those with interests that are more modern, the city boasts a great art museum and beautiful botanical gardens.

For family fun, Amarillo has many attractions. Wonderland Park for thrilling rides. Have a great evening in Downtown Amarillo in the new Hodgetown Baseball Park watching the Sod Poodles,  the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres in the Texas League. Visit Amarillo Civic Center where you can see sporting events, plays & more or have a wonderful evening at the Amarillo Globe News Theatre listening to a Symphony or two. Amarillo also has a Zoo, lots of lakes for fishing, and indoor/outdoor play areas. Take a stroll around the newly constructed Town square where you can enjoy  a spa day, dine at some amazing restaurants, visit the Air U Trampoline park and enjoy Cinergy, our main events center where you can play over 100 video games, Tackle a Elevated rope course and zipline, try your luck at an escape room, play a few games of bowling, enjoy laser tag, watch movies while you eat and relax in top of the line recliners!

Amarillo ISD has, over 33,000 students attending 55 schools (click here for a detail view and profile for each school). There are over 85 clubs and organizations for your children to take part in & 2,247 teachers. Over $27,000,000 in college scholarships are offered and 1,400 students earn college credits in their AP exams last year. Amarillo is an A+ in Athletics with 13 district champions and 20 playoff berths.
